Q: Two motor cyclists A and B participated in a 10 km race and their respective speeds are 60 km/hr and 54 km/hr. the person with the higher speed, because of falling off his bike on the way was delayed by 50 sec, before he could get up and continue the race. Who won the race and by how many seconds margin?
A. B and 16.67sec  B. A and 66.67 sec
C. B and 66.67 sec  D. A and 16.67 sec

Answer and Explanation

Answer:A and 16.67 sec

Explanation:
D = 10 × 1000 = 1000m
SA = 60 × 5/18 = 150 / 9 m/s
SB = 54 × 5/18 = 15 m/s
TA = 1000/150 × 9 = 600 sec
Total time for A = 600 + 50 = 650 sec
TB = 1000/15 = 666.66sec
A won by 666.66 – 650 = 16.66 sec
