Q: Find the value of √(62 + √480)
A. √60 and √2  B. √61 and √3
C. √50 and √2 D. √60 and √1

Answer and Explanation

Answer:√60 and √2

Explanation:
Let √(62 + √480) = √a + √b
=>Squaring both sides,
=> 62 + √480 = a+b +2√ab
=> 62 + √480 = a+b+√4ab
=> Equating the corresponding rational and irrational parts on both sides,
=> a+b = 62
=> 4ab = 480
=> ab = 120
=> As a+b = 60 + 2 and ab = (60) (2) it follows that
=> A = 60 and b = 2
