A tap can fill a cistern in 10 minutes, while the othercan empty it in 15 minutes. The cistern being empty and if both the taps are opened together, in how many minutes will the cistern be full?

Explanation:
In 1 minute the first tap will fill 1/10 of the cistern and the other tap will empty 1/15 of the cistern.
Let the cistern be filled in X minutes
X(1/10 – 1/15) = 1 i.e. X(3 – 2 / 30) =1
X = 30 min
Hence, the cistern will be full in 30 minutes.
