Q: There are 40 students in a class. Out of these students, one student whose weight is 100 kg goes away and at the same time a new student gets admitted into the class. Thus the average weight of the students increases by ¼ kg. find the weight of the new student.
A. 105kg B. 115kg
C. 107kg D. 110kg

Answer and Explanation

Answer:110kg

Explanation:
∑X / n = ∑X / 40
Let A  = weight of new student
Xnew   = X + 0.25
∑Xnew = ∑X – 100 + A
(X + 0.25)40 = (X)40 – 100 + A
40X + 10 = 40X – 100 + A
A = 110 kg
