In a party there were 8 men, when 2 of these men aged 20 and 24 left the party and 2 women entered the party, the average age of the entire group of 8 increased by 2. What was the average age of the two new women entered the party?

A.    35 Wrong Right

B.    32 Wrong Right

C.    30 Wrong Right

D.    33 Wrong Right

Answer : 30

Explanation : Average age of X1 = ∑Xmen / 8 (1)
= ∑Xmen = 8X1
Let ages of two women be A, B
∑X new = ∑X men – (20 +24) + (A + B)
X1 + 2 = (= ∑X men – 44 + (A + B)) / 8
Equations (1) and (2) gives:
44/8 – (A + B)/8 = -2
44 – (A +B) = -16
A + B = 60
Average age of women = 60/2 = 30 years

At what time between 4:15 am and 5:05 am will the angle between the hour hand and the minute hand of a clock be the same as the angel between the hands at 8:45 pm?

A.    23 7/11 minutes past 4 o’clock Wrong Right

B.    22 2/11 minutes past 4 o’clock Wrong Right

"/> C.    27 2/11 minutes past 4 o’clock Wrong Right

D.    23 2/11 minutes past 4 o’clock Wrong Right

Answer : 23 2/11 minutes past 4 o’clock

Explanation : We have – θ= 6(40 – 11*45 / 12) = – 30/4. At 8 :45, the angle between the minute hand and the hour hand of the clock will be 30/4°. This is the same as the required angle.
Therefore ±30/4 = 6(20 – 11m/12).
On solving, m=20 m 5/11 minutes or 23 2/11 minutes past 4 o’clock

A person borrowed Rs. 10000 at 10% rate of compound interest. He repaid certain amount at the end of the first year. Then he paid Rs. 5500 at the end of the second year thereby discharging the loan completely. What amount did he repay at the end of the first year?

A.    Rs.5500 Wrong Right

B.    Rs. 6600 Wrong Right

C.    Rs. 5750 Wrong Right

D.    Rs. 6000 Wrong Right

Answer : Rs. 6000

Explanation : The amount of Rs. 10000 borrowed at 19% rate will become 11000 at the end of the first year. At this point a certain amount was repaid and let the amount be repaid Rs. A. Principal for 2nd year = Rs. (1100 – A). At 10% rate of interest, this will amount to (1100 – A) × 1.1 at the end of 2nd year. But by repaying Rs. 5500, the loan has been discharged completely.
∴ (1100 – A) × 1.1 = 5500
∴ 1100 – A = 55000/11 = 5000
∴ A = Rs. 6000
∴ The amount repaid at the end of 1st year = Rs. 6000

A.    0.92025 m Wrong Right

B.    0.9525 m Wrong Right

C.    0.90625 m Wrong Right

D.    0.98075 m Wrong Right

Answer : 0.90625 m

Explanation : Let g: - be the gain or loss in total transaction
x: - gain or loss on cost price
(100 + g) / (100 + x) = True measure / Faulty measure
In the above problem, g = 12%
x = 1.5%
Therefore, (100 + 12) / (100 + 1.5) = 1/ y
112 / 101.5 = 1/ y; y = 101.5 / 112
y = 0.90625 m
